Want a free copy of my new book? Now is your chance.
Arktos Publishing has agreed to provide free copies to the first 20 readers who pledge to write and post a review of at least 50 words at Amazon.com or a national affiliate such as Amazon.co.uk. I will forward the first 20 names I receive. You will be required to sign a pledge, and then Arktos will send you a gift card to Amazon. (This ensures that you will have the authorization to post a review, and it will be marked “verified purchase.” )
The book is already receiving superlative (5-stars) reviews (but of course the stars are your choice).
In connected matters, my recent roundup of interviews and reviews neglected to mention my talk to the International Conference on Men’s Issues 2024, which is now on YouTube in two locations, here and here. The subject is the Men’s Marriage Strike, its threat to the political class, and what it is meant to achieve.
John Waters’ review is also worth mentioning again.
Plus:
Former Czech President Vaclav Klaus wrote a piece on it for the leading Czech daily newspaper, Lidove noviny (translation).
See the extended — and very perceptive — review by F. Roger Devlin in the Occidental Observer, reprinted in the Unz Review. The comments section is especially lively and (mostly) intelligent.
Dr Barbara Toth reviewed it perceptively at SoulandLiberty.com.
Ed Martin of Phyllis Schlafly Eagles interviewed me about the book on his popular radio show.
Hannah Spier interviewed me for her popular and stimulating Substack podcast, “Psychobabble”:
These 3 are of special interest to men (and those who love them):
Tom Golden interviewed me for his show, Men Are Good.
Paul Elam interviewed me for his highly popular men’s site, An Ear for Men.
Will Knowland interviewed me for his stimulating site, Knowland Knows
My Substack article, “Why the United States Went ‘Communist’” which summarizes themes of the book was picked up and republished at the Forum for Democracy (FvD), a Dutch political party founded by MP Thierry Baudet. FvD also serves as a think tank, and their site regularly publishes interesting articles by serious intellectuals such as their director, John Laughland. They also republished “Why Is There a Left?”, which elaborates a theme that is implicit in the book, and other pieces.
A especially kind review appeared on Australian Amazon:
5.0 out of 5 stars It's nothing less than we've come to expect from the world's most perceptive academic
Reviewed in Australia on 21 July 2024
As with the author's two previous books, The New Politics Of Sex and Taken Into Custody: The War Against Fathers, Marriage And The Family, Baskerville manages to get to the hub of the very strange turn the world has taken in the past four years.
If a decade ago, you'd have told people governments would in the future successfully manage to lock people in their homes for two years and basically shut down the world, scorn and ridicule would have been your reward.Trying to now unravel the reasons it did occur has proved beyond most of our pundits (self-appointed in most cases).
Look no further. Baskerville convincingly traces the loss of liberty in the west and the reasons for it. This makes it a triumvirate of must read books he's now produced. In fact, so well does he write, that I'm tempted to dwelve into his first production, Not Peace But A Sword, despite having next to no interest in the Puritan Revolution.
Book Launch:
Finally, Save the Date: October 3, 6:00pm: If you are near Warsaw in early October, my book will be officially launched at my university, the Collegium Intermarium (ulica Bagatela 12, in central Warsaw). I will be speaking, along with some important figures from the world of academics, publishing, and politics, and I will sign copies. If you cannot be in Warsaw (a charming city in the autumn), online participation will be available.
I will read & post a review of ‘Who lost America’.
How do I communicate with you?
Yes I would be interested to read it and do a review. Not sure how to communicate that to you, so trying this way.
