Well I think that America and most of the West is now effectively a matriarchy. Being thus under the sway of feminine instincts it prioritizes safety and group consensus over free enterprise risk taking and rugged individualism. Combine that with endless feminist disparagement of everything male, and women look to the government for safety, provision, and group consensus, resulting in now ballooning deficits and an increasingly totalitarian state. This of course runs directly counter to conservative principles. But conservative men don't want to offend the ladies, so on and on it goes.
